Ami Shekhar Studio is a design-led space where artistic expression trumps utility. At the heart of our practice is a deep commitment to craftsmanship, we specialize in handmade, sculptural furniture and objects, rooted in traditional Indian techniques but reimagined through a contemporary design lens.

Our studio’s strength lies in bringing time-honoured, handcrafted methods to contemporary designs. Every piece is Made in India, celebrating the knowledge and skill of our artisans. We are material agnostic and work across brass, stainless steel, paper, ceramic, and wood, to name a few.  We thrive in exploring the unique textures, histories, and structural potential of materials.

Our work is experimental, driven by a desire to push the boundaries of form, scale, and function. For us, the sculptural always precedes the functional. Our pieces are first and foremost artistic expressions – tables, wardrobes, and consoles that carry the presence of contemporary sculpture.

Our aim is to keep Indian artisanal legacies not just alive, but fortify, by placing them at the forefront of modern design conversations. 

We’ve collaborated with leading interior designers and created bespoke, collectible pieces for luxury hospitality projects including ITC, Hilton, Godrej Properties, and MAIA Estates. Our work has been featured in Elle Décor, AD and other leading design publications.
